Boldness: A Street Photographer & Nanny

Two things on my mind today: Vivian Maier and New Years.

So we made the drive to LA for New Years and you can see my point of view of the drive: backseat. Sleeping. We got to a point that was a "border check point" and Jose yelled "babe! wake up!" I'm surprised we didn't get pulled over because I'm sure I looked like a crazy woman with bloodshot eyes and wild hair. That's what happens when you can't sleep and have to wake up at 5 in the morning for a six hour drive.

But luckily we made it to Cali safely and explored the city of LA :) One of my favorite stops was the Santa Monica Pier...

I'll be sharing more of these later, but for now I want to share this video with you I came across on Alex's blog. Whether you're a professional or just a lover of photography, I think you'll love this story. It reminds me of how much I want to push my fear and comfort level aside and capture such rawness...

Isn't she amazing?! That is the type of photography that makes my heart sing. Love it. My goal for this year is to focus on the details. I'm mostly inspired by her boldness to photograph people as they are. Hope it gave you some inspiration too! Happy Friday :)

  1. I was so excited when I found out about Vivian Maier a few days ago. That exhibit is about a block away from my office, so I think I'm going to go check it out after work one night next week!
