Bella: Brittany Oswald

So here we are at last. You see, we got the business photos out of the way --but now it was time for Brittany to experience a different kind of Imaginale session. After the photos with her camera, the laughter, and candids... she asked for a Bella Session.
In a Bella session the client puts complete trust in me to guide them into a more fashion-forward session with styling and posing -- tailored to their specific personality. Model or not, this is for anyone who is willing to push past their comfort zone, even just a little, and allow me to take them to a special place of simple beauty and self-confidence. To realize that I am with them on every step of this experience, no matter how many stills we take or funny it might feel at first. Because in the end my goal is for them to walk away with a renewed sense of self-confidence and beauty.
And while Brittany was a little shy at first, she immersed herself into this world of feminine beauty and blew me away.
I just love, love, love black and white.
Thank you Brittany for embracing the challenge and trusting me on your journey of growth. To celebrate and take hold of a confidence that sometimes tries to slip away. You have a special kind of beauty and I have no doubt God will continue pushing you to see that :)
So when do I get my own "Guapo" session?! Love the post and love the description of what you do. You always manage to bring out the best in your models/clients :)
ReplyDeletelovely bokeh!
ReplyDeleteSuch classic beauty all over these shots! The styling was perfection. The dress was amazingly inspired. I can’t say enough about Brittany’s hair. I think it frames her in almost every shot, almost telling a story by itself. Number 1 is a combination of all that is lovely about Brittany from her favorite angle. Number 2 is a trickly little Mona Lisa smile that says, I’ll smile when I decide I want to. Number 3 takes me back to 1930’s Hollywood, enjoying an afternoon in the backyard of a bungalow as the LA haze burns off. Number 4 is pure art – wonderful feminine curves, texture, lines intersecting and running parallel – it’s all there. Of 5, 6, 7, 8, I am drawn to the ones where she is looking away. She’s vulnerable, in 6 and 8 she’s wanting to pull back into her shell as if not being used to feeling the sunlight so much on her delicate skin. Number 9 is one of my favorite. I love a good profile shot. Her hair is amazing here. Amazing! The wisps capture the motion of the wind and bring almost an Art Deco feel to an image that could have easily been a magazine ad for autos in the 1920’s. Her faint blue eye shadow, fair skin, and the absolutely perfectly chosen lipstick just blend with her face as if they were actually part of her, not applied. Number 12 is dominated by Brittany’s eyes and wow, they convey deep sadness to me. Number 13 is almost as if she’s trying to regain her composure for the shot. Number 14 is mischievous again as in I can’t believe you talked me into doing this, but maybe I’m liking it. A little. Number 15 is another great tribute to your great hair styling.
ReplyDeleteBrittany, these shots of you are fantastic. You know it takes two to tango (and you tangoed with a Latin dancer no less!). I echo Alejandra in saying that you have such classic beauty, which her shots illuminated discreetly as if only for you to spy – because you wanted to see a side of you that only a lens could capture. Your look harkens back to an earlier time that of such class. Your femininity enveloped you, bringing a softness such that the breeze slipped around you, not because it had somewhere to go, but because it wanted to slip around you. You are sophisticated and confident, yet looking as if it’s a just a Thursday afternoon and your mind is heavy with what’s over the horizon, never mind that someone is snapping away at you. That far away look creates as sense of intrigue for back story. I hope that you grow day by day in your embrace of how lovely God made you. I celebrate the woman who is so often behind the camera, getting to have her rightful share of deserved time in front of it to be noted and utterly noteworthy. Two things I know, there is nothing better than an Arizona sunset or a Texas woman to set the standards of beauty.
