Day 64: Babies & Beauties

Sunday, April 11, 2010

Aaahhh! I'm sorry! Friday and Saturday just snuck away from me, BUT to make up for it, I have really exciting things to share!!

First, we have a guest post from Meghan McFarlin. She is a new owner of a Nikon SLR and starting her photography adventures. I'm so proud of her because upon getting her camera she is learning it MANUALLY!! Major props to her because it is extremely challenging to push yourself into manual mode when you first take hold of an SLR. It actually took me a long while to stay on manual when I got my first Canon SLR (rebel xti!). I remember that I would try to learn it, but when I was around family there was SO much going on and kids were running all over, that I switched to AP mode to keep up. Eventually, I reached the point where I could stay on manual, despite my chaotic surroundings. So to those struggling with this, keep pushing -- I promise you'll get there eventually! Just keep shooting.

Now, on to her photo!

From Meghan: "This is my niece, Ella, at three weeks old. The focus is on accessories. Walk into any children's store, and you will find way more accessories for little girls than for boys. From birth, females are accessorized in a way in which boys just can't compete. From accents in their hair to toe-nail polish, women of all ages have men beat for adding a touch of personality to their outfits via accessories."

Haha. This is SO true about accessories. Shame is that I know I'll be that mother to my daughter :P Thank you Meghan!

Now, to some other exciting news. The new MohkaLIFE Who's Who is up!! And I have to say this ranks up there as one of my favorite photos. For those of you who know me, you know I've been dyyyying to do a cultural shoot with someone of Indian descent. I absolutely LOVE, love, LOVE the colors, richness in detail, and the fabrics! Aaaahhh. Now my next photography mission: An Indian Wedding!! Come on people, help me make this happen :)

And here, is the photo:

Medhini Kumar. Isn't she beautiful?! The hilarious thing is that she is a complete tomboy and hates dressing up. Now that the article is actually up, I can show you some behind the scene bloopers that resulted into this photo. Check out the spread for the rest of the pictures! Let me know what you think! I love feedback -- and that includes critiques.

Okay, okay... I'll give you an idea of what we were up to:

Till' next time~

  2. To be completely honest, I have nothing bad to say about the photos. I love them. My favorite is the one is the orange sari. I love the contrast of her flowing fabric against the hard urban background.
