A Little Girl Like Me

I stuffed cereal boxes with toys and attached a piece of string with a little bell to drag around with me. I called it a wagon. I would refuse to take off my soft pink leotard after ballet class and would hop from one bed to another, chanting a song in my broken English. I brushed barbie Belle's hair every night and told God that I would be a very good girl if he gave me hair like hers.

I overdosed on Sprite at my tea party and got the hugest headache after my drunken sugar rush. I found hiding spots behind fences, behind clothes in the closet, and under the beds. More than anything, I remember trying to recreate the stories I read in books. If I squeezed my eyes tight and spun in circles, I might ... just might fly.




She was a flower girl at a wedding. That's it. But to me, I was reminded of a little girl like me. Head cocked ever so slightly, eyes tightly shut, a dizzy sensation, and a dress that surely deserved to fly...

So when I came across this, I couldn't help but remember myself as a little girl. My frustrations in dance, but my determination to try....

Outfit Chronicles: Spanish Shawl Top

I'm not sure how I feel about this outfit. I highly considered not even posting it, but I figured if I wore it in public... why not? I love, LOVE this top that I got in Spain. However, this particular day was chilly in Phoenix, so I decided to use it like a shawl.

Now that we're about to hit the blazing heat here in the dessert desert, you better believe you'll be seeing this top again. Minus the long sleeve under it, of course.

Remember the wedding I second shot last weekend? Well, I shot 28 GIGS worth of photos. I know. Insanity! So clearly it's going to be a bit before I post some previews. However, I practically had a photoshoot with the CUTEST flower girl!! No lie folks, I think I have at least 20 of her. And that's referring to the GOOD ones.

So of course I'll leave you with a piece of her :)

For that Diva Flowergirl

There's a new diva in this wedding, and her name is Alyssa. Alyssa Valdez. She is my flower girl! (My little cousin Isabella will be joining her... but she is a wee-bit little thing :)

This is not just for kids/flower girls... remember that a best way to create a unique outfit (and save money) is to pick a solid colored dress/skirt, with a ruffled top, and then you can really add that UMPH with a hair piece. Don't spend hundreds on the outfit! Splurge a little on the hair piece/accessories. That will be more memorable (unless you just find THAT deal for THAT top/dress/skirt -- then ok you win ;)

And last... what do you think about this idea. WHAT IF I attached a little bit of veil fabric to her hair piece to represent a tiny-teeny-mini-birdcage veil?! This is the best example I could find:

Now remember, the hair piece wouldn't necessarily be in white and it's NOT going over her face.... it's just a "hint" of it. Don't freak out, she won't look like a bride. I dunno, it's kind of crazy but I just think it would be SO stinkin' cute to see the flower girl walking down with something like that.

Am I crazy? Wait, let me rephrase that. Is that a crazy thought? I want to hear your thoughts!! Even if you think that's a dumb idea. I'm just curious :)
