Camper: Alejandra, do you have a boyfriend?
Me: No, actually... I'm married.
Camper: OH MY GOSH!! I didn't know you were old!!! I thought you were like... I don't know. Not old.

Oh, thanks. Didn't realize being "married" just threw me into the old category. Yet I still ended up blending in with the campers! Boys will be boys I suppose.
Guess what my high school girls at camp taught me?
Planking. Also known as the "lying down game." Basically, you find the most random PUBLIC locations (preferably with more people), to lie down like a wooden plank -- face down, arms at side. When people ask what the heck you are doing, you can't explain it to them. Or at least my girls demanded that I leave the public wondering once they snapped the photo.
I thought this game was HILARIOUS. I was ALL over it. I mean, photos... awkwardness.. and randomness. Yes please.
Point and shoot loaded, we started at the cafeteria, made my way into conversations, including the check out lines at the clothing store, and right on people's tables.
Jose asked what came over me. I'm not really sure.
But on a serious note... Hume Lake changed me. I have finally accepted that my self worth comes from who I am in Christ. Not externally. Not my gifts. I've surrendered.
However, that deserves its own post so watch for it later this week!
p.s. thank you all for your comments, prayers, and thoughts this past week. I can't tell you enough HOW MUCH I appreciate having you in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Meghan -- I LOVE YOU GIRL!! Hahaha. The fact that you like this as much as I do makes me miss you THAT much more! You know... it was surprisingly easy to do. But here's the thing -- we were at *camp* so crazy things happen a lot. I think I would find it much more challenging in life outside of camp!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was walking into the store with a line of people and just dropping on the ground, hahaha :)
I was not prepared for how funny those photos were going to be. Oh my gosh. You are so awesome for doing that. I've seen planking online, but you are probably the first person, and DEFINITELY the first girl, I know to do it. HILARIOUS. I just love you.
