Friday Night Oatmeal-Chocolate Chip Cookies

Monday, March 21, 2011

Knowing that my weekend would be incredibly hectic with the wedding I'd be second shooting and Jose leaving Sunday morning, we decided to have a low-key Friday night.

Epicurious is one of our favorite iPhone apps for recipes, and in this case... we were craving some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm.

So we got to work!

I guess I should say Jose got to work. I did help with stirring the chocolate chips and oatmeal into the batter!

Then Jose started scooping them with a spoon...

But that was taking too long. Clearly hands were the better option..

YUM

YUMMMMM...

A must have for cookies: milk!

So we curled up with our cookies and watched the end of season 4 of Dexter. If you have seen it, let me just tell you Jose almost had an emotional break down.

And now I'm on the same couch typing this up... but minus the emotional Jose :( He's in California having a grand time with things that involve Jesus juice. My first week without the hubs started last night. I slept in the middle of the bed and tried to take up as much room as possible :) He is what I call a sheet hogger and often I find myself waking up and yanking the sheets back to my side. I have to admit that if I wake up shivering, I am an aggressive yanker (i.e. cranky).

Tonight though, I'm having some girls over for dinner, dessert, and whatever else we feel like doing on a ladies night :)

p.s. CANNOT wait to share the wedding. But first I will be sharing my first male fashion shoot! ;)

  1. You know, you can wad them up any which way, and they'll still melt down to a roughly circular shape on the pan. But of course the engineer would have them in perfect spheres. ;-)

The boy and I made apple cider sous vide pork chops, brussels sprouts with bacon (actually good . . . who knew?!), bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with almonds and goat cheese, and vinegar pie Saturday night. I'm all about joint cooking endeavors. And yes, we love bacon.

  2. Would it be unrealistic for me to hope those cookies are still there when I get back? :(

and Jenna...mad props for "sous vide" anything...and bacon-wrapped dates and cheese are my absolute favorite snack. EVER.

  3. Taylor and I watched all FIVE seasons of Dexter in the span of about a month and a half. I'm hooked it's so good! Aaaaand, we were both pretty bummed too after the end of season 4. The day after we watched it, we were still a little in shock and a weee bit depressed :)

  4. Jenna -- you're ridiculous! That food is RIGHT up our alley as Jose has mentioned. And how cute that you and your boy are cooking together ;) ;)

    Jose- Ha!

Jenn!! We're obsessed too!!!! We have actually tried to RESTRAIN ourselves to watch the seasons slowly, hahaha. I wasn't as shocked because that *person* was on The View a few weeks ago (before I had watched the episode) and they revealed what happened and I was like "NOOOOO!!!" So all my shocked happened then and I had to keep quiet for Jose, lol.
