Shoulder pads. Football looking shoulder pads. Have you ever had those? I bought a blazer about a year ago that had these bulky shoulder pads on them. For some crazy reason, I really loved the blazer and was SO sure I'd be wearing it to work. And then... I never did. Nothing ever seemed to look right with it.
Fast forward a year later, and I'm standing in my closet. I really wish I had a blazer, I think to myself. My eyes scan my clothes and they fall on that dang blazer. Ugh. I'm so upset that I have NEVER worn it and spent $45 on it. I WILL WEAR THIS!
I pull out some scissors and say bye bye pads. After snipping the thread and removing the pads, I grab a casual long sleeve to go under it. I decide to choose everything else as casual (jeans, long sleeve shirt, hair in bun) and top it off with matching brown boots. I think I was trying to channel Emerson Made.

You guys... I have killed these brown boots. I think I've had them for at least 2 years, and they're so used that I can't wear them when it rains because water will seep in. Sad, huh? On top of that, I wore them to Saturday's photoshoot and scuffed them up so bad!

But people love those boots. I love those boots. I love the nubby heel! Atlanta friends... you MUST go to Shoe Land. They only have this store in Georgia and Florida -- the prices are unbeatable!

Blazer: JC Penny, long sleeve: Aeropostale, necklace: F21, jeans: Charolette Russe, boots: Shoe Land
I've been experimenting a lot lately with my clothes and using what I already have to create something I've never done before. So expect some more Outfit Chronicles posts! Sometimes I have to ask Jose 5 times "Are you SURE this looks okay?" But I realize I can't always ask that because not everything is "supposed to match." And let's admit it, guys can be one dimensional in that sense sometimes ;)Oh. And you won't believe what I got at Forever 21. It starts with high waist and ends with shorts. Say whaaat?! YES. I. Went. There. Feliz Jueves!
I have an EmersonMade jacket, that I got as a splurge piece last August. And it freaking has shoulder pads. I love it and would wear it all the time if it didn't. Unfortunately these are inside the lining, so I need to find a tailor to take them out.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what part of the boots is messed up, but could you maybe have them resoled? I have one pair that I've been thinking of doing that with.
And I will leave the high waisted shorts to you of the smaller hips/butts.

You actually have an Emerson Made item?! You have to get the pads removed!
ReplyDeleteIf it's relatively cheap to resole them, then I might consider it. The boots themselves were only $25... sooo, an upgrade in the future wouldn't be a bad idea either.
P.s. Did you see the EM Seersucker Derby blouse? Gorgeous!!
So when in the series do you do my outfit chronicles? Well I guess I have to get some outfits first!
